Our Walla Walla Tasting Room is officially open in the Marcus Whitman hotel and we asked our tasting room manager, Gabrielle Sherman, CSW, to share some of her favorite places to visit. She put together an itinerary for a perfect day in Walla Walla.

A Hearty Breakfast at Bacon and Eggs

Before you head out, grab a hearty breakfast at Bacon and Eggs. This locavore restaurant features all of your favorites from classic omelets to decadent brioche French toast to Eggs Benedicts four different ways.

Two Delightful Lunch Options

Walla Walla has many wonderful lunch spots. Two of my favorites are Yamas and Graze.

Head over to Yamas, a family-owned restaurant that offers a varied selection of authentic Greek food and wines. From savory gyros to delicious moussaka, Yamas provides an authentic taste of Greece right in the heart of Walla Walla. Pair your meal with one of their excellent Greek wines for a truly memorable experience.

Graze, known for its unique salads and hearty sandwiches, is a local favorite. Their focus on fresh, local ingredients guarantees a delightful meal. You can also get provisions to-go, bringing them along your wine tasting adventures if you happen to wander out of town.

Wine Tasting, Without Leaving Town

Walla Walla boasts many tasting rooms in the downtown area. You could spend an entire weekend visiting one after another without ever having to get into your car. I recommend Time and Direction and Kontos.

At Time and Direction winemaker Steve Wells, a graduate of the Viticulture and Enology program in Walla Walla, crafts delicious wines focused on Rhone varietals. The fun and relaxed atmosphere, complete with retro music and video game memorabilia, makes this tasting room a must-visit for wine enthusiasts and pop culture fans alike.

Next, visit Kontos and experience six generations of family history in Walla Walla. Their beautiful patio, complete with porch swings, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy their wide selection of wines made with local fruit. The blend of tradition and innovation in their winemaking is sure to impress.

For a change of pace, stop by Book and Game located in the historic Die Brucke building. This charming shop offers a wide selection of books, original gifts, and board games. Whether you're a bookworm, a gamer, or looking for unique gifts, you’ll find something special to take home.

Step Back in Time at The Kirkman House

End your day with a visit to The Kirkman House, built between 1879-1880 and once considered the greatest residence in Walla Walla. Now a beautifully restored museum, The Kirkman House highlights the original architecture and provides a fascinating glimpse into the past. Check out their rotating exhibits and get a bit of history while you're here. It's a perfect way to round off your day of exploration and enjoyment.
