Summer Food and Wine Pairings
Summer in Seattle is in full swing and boy are we happy about it! At Nine Hats Wines, summer means sunshine, sipping, and sharing great wines with you. It also means pairing our wines with some of our favorite summer dishes like a mouthwatering pie from our friends at Nine Pies Pizzeria, fresh grilled fish tacos, chicken wings, and more. We’ve got your summer menu coming right up!
2017 Nine Hats Pinot Gris Paired with Grilled Chicken Wings
While people eat wings year-round, grilling them outside allows you to get the delicious charred flavor we know and love, that really pairs well with a cold, refreshing glass of our 2018 Nine Hats Pinot Gris. Whether you like to toss your wings in teriyaki or buffalo sauce, the crisp acidity and citrus notes from the Pinot Gris complement the spicy sauce and rich blue cheese dressing.
2017 Nine Hats Red Wine Paired with Nine Pies Piaggio Pizza
Pizza and red wine is a pairing that always delivers. Our 2018 Nine Hats Red Wine is a great accompaniment to the Nine Pies Piaggio pizza. Topped with pepperoni, sausage, black olives, mushrooms, roasted red pepper, mozzarella, parmesan, and tomato sauce—the Piaggio’s vegetal profile is balanced by the red wine’s long, smooth finish. When you head to Nine Hats to pick up your next wine order grab a pie next door.
2017 Nine Hats Riesling Paired with Grilled Fish Tacos
Riesling can be overlooked, but when paired alongside the right dish, it shines in all the best ways. The minerality and acidity of the 2019 Nine Hats Riesling pairs effortlessly with both spicy and cream-driven dishes. Pair the Riesling with a flaky white fish taco, creamy slaw, cilantro, a hefty squeeze of lime and as much jalapeno as you like — simple as that!
2015 Nine Hats Syrah Paired with the Classic Burger
A glass of our 2016 Nine Hats Syrah with a juicy burger (or veggie burger) and all the fixins screams summer to us here at Nine Hats Wines. Our favorite way to prepare a burger is on a brioche bun charred on the grill with crispy, crunchy lettuce, fresh heirloom tomatoes, red onion, a smear of aioli, and ketchup. The rich, black raspberry, and licorice notes of this Washington Syrah complement the juicy, smokiness of the burger.
There you have it! Our ideal summer wine and meals, served up and ready for a seat at your table. We hope you take the time to try any of these delicious pairings out at home and share them with us on social media! In the meantime, we’re open in SODO– give us a call beforehand at 206-582-0700 to let us know you’re coming and enjoy a tasting, a pie, and a great time!
